Do you have pain or burning when you urinate? You may have a UTI and could benefit from treatment.
A urinary tract infection (UTI) is an infection that affects any part of the urinary system, including the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra. UTIs are more common in women than men.
What are the symptoms of a UTI?
Symptoms can include pain or burning when urinating, frequent urination, urgency to urinate, cloudy or foul-smelling urine, and pain in the lower abdomen or back.
How are UTIs treated?
UTIs are typically treated with antibiotics to kill the bacteria causing the infection. It's important to complete the full course of antibiotics even if your symptoms improve.

UTIs are usually caused by bacteria that enter the urethra and travel up the urinary tract. Escherichia coli (E. coli) is the most common bacteria that causes UTIs.
Some mild UTIs may clear up on their own, but it's generally recommended to get treatment to prevent the infection from spreading to the kidneys.
If you have symptoms of a UTI, especially if they're severe or don't improve within a few days, you should see a doctor.
You can reduce your risk by wiping from front to back after using the toilet, urinating after sex, staying hydrated, and avoiding tight-fitting clothing or underwear.
Untreated UTIs can lead to kidney infections (pyelonephritis), which can be serious.
If you experience recurrent UTIs, your doctor may recommend preventative measures, such as low-dose antibiotics or cranberry supplements.
Most visits cost $49 between 7 am and 9 pm 7 days (Mon-Sun).
