What is an EpiPen?

An EpiPen is an auto-injectable device that delivers a dose of epinephrine (adrenaline) to treat severe allergic reactions, also known as anaphylaxis. Anaphylaxis can be life-threatening and requires immediate treatment.

Who needs an EpiPen?

EpiPens are prescribed for people with a history of severe allergic reactions to allergens such as insect stings, foods (peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish), medications, or latex.

How does an EpiPen work?

Epinephrine helps to counteract the symptoms of anaphylaxis by constricting blood vessels, reducing swelling, and relaxing the airways to improve breathing.

Is a chat-visit right for me?

A chat visit with Well Revolution might be right for you if:

  • You're 18-64 years old
  • You need a refill of your EpiPen prescription
  • You're at risk of having a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis)

EpiPen prescriptions

Your Well Revolution provider will review your medical history and allergy history to determine if an EpiPen prescription is appropriate for you. If prescribed, pick it up at a pharmacy of your choice or your nearest Well Revolution Care Location. The cost of your EpiPen may be covered by health insurance.

EpiPen prescriptions are available through Chat-visit for patients who meet the eligibility criteria.

Note: EpiPens are brand-name medications. Generic epinephrine auto-injectors may also be available.
