MedSavers Pharmacy

MedSavers Pharmacy is an independently owned and operated community pharmacy with a mission of helping people get the medication they need at prices they can afford. Based on a simple principle, “we don’t deal with insurance companies,” we’re able to offer the same generic prescriptions you get from your regular pharmacy for a fraction of the cost. Since 2005, we've been making medications affordable for tens of thousands of people across the great state of Texas.

When we opened our doors, we didn't do it to make money -- we did it to help people. Chris, our owner and pharmacist, had become disillusioned with an industry controlled by insurance companies and selling medications at prices that under-insured patients couldn't afford. Inspired by his wife's background in social work and passion for helping people, he opened MedSavers, where we charge fair prices and make sure every patient gets respect, one-on-one service, and the treatment they deserve. Because, when it comes down to it, we believe every member of our community deserves compassionate care and affordable medications.

Established in 2005. MedSavers Pharmacy was established by pharmacist, Chris Johnson, to help the uninsured and underinsured population of central Texas with the cost of medications. Since its inception, MedSavers has helped thousands of people and now services the entire state.

Meet the owner

Chris Johnson grew up in the Dallas/Fort Worth area before moving to Austin to attend The University of Texas. There he received his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy in 1995, and became a registered Pharmacist in the State of Texas soon after.

It didn’t take long for Chris to realize that practicing pharmacy was not what he thought it would be. Ten years of working in independent and grocery store pharmacies was more than enough for Chris to grow frustrated with insurance companies running the show, mostly at the uninsured patient’s expense. Day after day, uninsured patients walked away from the counter empty-handed because they could not afford the exorbitantly high-priced medication. It was frustrating to say the least, especially knowing how much the medication actually cost the pharmacy. Chris knew there had to be a better way.

On April 11, 2005, Chris opened MedSavers. He launched the return of the personable pharmacy experience. His mission is to help those with little to no insurance get the medication they need at prices that are easy to swallow.

If you're uninsured, you can get a much better price

While prices for most drugs at traditional pharmacies are very high for the uninsured patient, MedSavers makes it possible to afford your prescriptions by offering the same generic medications for up to 75% less.

If you have insurance, your co-pay might not be the best price

MedSavers offers a wide-range of generic medications for a fraction of the cost and many times cheaper than your co-pay. Also, many plans have high deductibles or limited formularies that don't cover the drugs you need. Plus, since we don’t have insurance companies slowing us down, you’ll get your medications faster.
