Chlamydia & Tinder: a bromance of epic proportions

April 14, 2018

First things first. If you are reading this, you should probably get an STI check, just saying...

Chlamydia. Not only is this word incredibly hard to spell, but it's also a tricky little disease. If you have it, you might not know that you have it. Because it's sneaky, like that ex who creepily stalks you on Facebook. The only way to know if you have it is to get tested. HINT: GET TESTED.

If you are one of the lucky ones you will get symptoms and they go something like this... abnormal bleeding, discharge, abdominal pain, anal pain, throat pain, pain during sex, fever, pain during urination, or the urge to urinate more frequently.

NERD FACTS: Chlamydia is caused by a type of bacteria called Chlamydia trachomatis. In NZ, Chlamydia affects around 10% of people from 18-35 years old. Soooo pretty much every 10th swipe on Tinder has it. Yummy!

Chlamydia is spread via vaginal, anal or oral sex or it can be spread simply by touching. Chlamydia can affect your fertility big time and it can also make you really sick and end up in hospital.

But the good news is if you are positive it's easily treated with some antibiotics.

So if you want to make babies one day & not end up with pus coming out of your vagina or penis, GET TESTED REGULARLY. Especially if you are using Tinder, Grindr, Bumble etc, because we all know what you're up to...

Check out our at-home STD test services. Our #Sorted, #NewPartner and #LoveBox packages include tests for Chlamydia.

Be kind to yourself and others. Use protection and test often.
